Spring cleaning for the mind

Before attacking that growing mess in the front closet or basement, try turning your attention inward, to perform a spring cleaning of your mind.
Sit still …become very still… be alert as if this is the only moment that counted and it is… feel your heart beating now… become aware of the pulse in your wrist…. now switch your attention to your breath…. first the in-breath… now the out-breath… observe the initial thought that pulls your attention away… now isolate that thought… separate from that thought…. notice it and put it aside and return to the awareness of your breath… continue for twenty minutes if possible.
The front closet can wait!
